Nano Banana, Veo and ChatGPT Image Limits by Plan

How many Nano Banana and Nano Banana Pro images, Veo clips and ChatGPT images each plan gets, when the limits reset, and what to do when you run out.

Short answer: neither Google nor OpenAI publishes a fixed number of images per day for the Gemini and ChatGPT apps today. Gemini uses compute-based limits that refresh every 5 hours until you hit a weekly cap, and paid plans get 2, 4, 5 or 20 times more than an account with no plan. Google publishes exact numbers only for Flow (credits per Veo clip). When you run out, you can wait, upgrade, or pay per item: on Jantaris an image from Nano Banana Pro costs from $0.0747 per image and a Veo 3.1 Fast clip costs from $0.354 per video, with no subscription.

I checked every number below on October 4, 2026 on Google and OpenAI help and pricing pages, and each one links to its source. Both companies say limits can change without notice, so check the source again before you buy a plan.

Gemini app limits: Nano Banana, Nano Banana Pro and video

As of October 2026, Google does not give a per-day image count in the Gemini app. The Gemini Apps limits page says limits depend on prompt complexity, the models and features you use, and chat length. Plans differ by a multiplier:

PlanMonthly price (US)Gemini limitNano Banana 2 imagesNano Banana ProVideo
No plan$0standard (source)yesnono
Google AI Plus$4.99 (source)2x standard (source)yesyes, "Redo with Nano Banana Pro"yes
Google AI Pro$19.99 (source)4x standard (source)yesyesyes, limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite (source)
Google AI Ultra$99.99 or $199.99 (source)5x or 20x AI Pro (source)yesyesyes, Veo 3.1

Feature availability in the Nano Banana and video columns comes from the same Gemini Apps limits page, checked 2026-10-04. Plan prices come from gemini.google/subscriptions, checked the same day.

What that means in practice:

  • Nano Banana 2 images are in every plan, including no plan. The exact count depends on what else you do in the same 5-hour window.
  • Nano Banana Pro in the app starts at AI Plus. The help page lists it as redoing an image with the Pro model.
  • Video in the Gemini app needs a paid plan. The video help page now describes video generation with Gemini Omni, while the plans page lists Veo 3.1 Lite for AI Pro and Veo 3.1 for Ultra.
  • Figures like "100 Pro images a day" come from older versions of that page. Google now publishes multipliers, not counts, so I keep them out of the table.

Veo limits in Google Flow: the exact numbers

Flow is Google's filmmaking tool, and every Veo clip there costs credits. Google lists the values on its Flow credits help page:

PlanDaily creditsMonthly credits
No subscription500
Google AI Plus50200
Google AI Pro501,000
Google AI Ultra ($99.99)5010,000
Google AI Ultra ($199.99)5025,000

Cost per generation, from the same page:

ModelNon-Ultra plansUltra
Veo 3.1 Lite10 credits5 credits
Veo 3.1 Fast20 credits10 credits
Veo 3.1 Quality100 credits100 credits

My math, monthly credits only: AI Plus covers 10 Fast clips or 2 Quality clips a month, AI Pro 50 Fast or 10 Quality. The 50 daily credits alone cover 5 Lite clips or 2 Fast clips, but not a Quality clip.

ChatGPT image limits

OpenAI does not publish a per-day image count for any ChatGPT plan. The ChatGPT plans page (checked 2026-10-04) describes images like this:

PlanImages, per OpenAI
Free"Limited image creation"
Go"More image creation"
Plusimage creation, marked "Limits apply"
Pro"Unlimited and faster image creation", subject to abuse guardrails

The ChatGPT Free tier FAQ adds that image generation has its own limit, separate from regular chats, and that ChatGPT tells you when you reach it. The limit message shows when it resets, and that is the only reliable number for your account. The often quoted "2-3 images a day on Free" comes from 2025 statements and user reports, not from the current plans page.

When limits reset

  • Gemini: the limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit (source). Once you hit it, chat can continue on the lighter Flash-Lite model.
  • Flow daily credits: 50 credits each day, unused credits do not roll over (source).
  • Flow monthly credits: refresh at the start of your billing cycle, unused credits do not roll over (source).
  • ChatGPT: OpenAI gives no fixed reset time. The limit message shows how long until it comes back (source).

Plan limits vs paying per item through an API

An app plan is a subscription with an allowance: you pay the same every month, and the number of images depends on how much you use other features. An API works the other way round: no allowance, you pay for each result. From the Gemini API pricing page (checked 2026-10-04):

  • Nano Banana Pro: $0.134 per 1K or 2K image, $0.24 per 4K image, no free tier.
  • Nano Banana 2: $0.067 per 1K image, $0.101 per 2K image, no free tier.
  • Veo 3.1: per second, with audio: Quality $0.40 (720p and 1080p), Fast $0.10 (720p) and $0.12 (1080p), Lite $0.05 (720p) and $0.08 (1080p).

The differences that matter when you choose:

  • A plan pays off when you use all of Gemini (chat, storage, Deep Research) and images are an extra.
  • Paying per item pays off when images and clips are your work and your volume is uneven: 5 one week, 300 the next.
  • In an API the limit is a rate, not an allowance. Google caps requests per minute by usage tier, but nothing you paid for expires at the end of the month.

What the same images and clips cost on Jantaris

Jantaris has no subscription and no daily allowance. You top up from $10, the balance never expires, and every image and clip has a fixed price shown before you click Generate.

ModelPrice per item on JantarisGoogle equivalent
Nano Banana Pro (image)from $0.0747 per imageNano Banana Pro, AI Plus and up in Gemini
Nano Banana 2 (image)from $0.07 per imageNano Banana 2, every Gemini plan
GPT Image 2.5 (image)$0.0432 per imageimages in ChatGPT
Veo 3.1 Lite (8 s clip)from $0.177 per video10 Flow credits
Veo 3.1 Fast (8 s clip)from $0.354 per video20 Flow credits
Veo 3.1 (Quality) (8 s clip)from $2.53 per video100 Flow credits

A batch costs the unit price times the count: 100 Nano Banana Pro images are 100 × from $0.0747 per image, 10 Veo 3.1 Fast clips are 10 × from $0.354 per video.

Veo on Jantaris is billed per clip, not per second: each generation is 8 seconds, and 720p and 1080p cost the same. Image prices are for the lowest resolution, 4K costs more. Work out the exact amount for your number of images, clips and resolution in the AI cost calculator.

Example: 50 Veo 3.1 Fast clips use up the whole monthly Flow allowance on AI Pro. On Jantaris they cost 50 × from $0.354 per video, paid when you make them, and any unused balance carries over to next month. A failed generation costs $0, because the hold is released in full.

How to switch from a limit to paying per item

  1. Sign up and top up your balance by card.
  2. Open Jantaris Studio and pick Nano Banana Pro or Veo 3.1 Fast.
  3. Paste the same prompt you use in Gemini. The cost is shown before you generate.
  4. If you generate from code, call the same model through the API with one key:
bash
curl "https://jantaris.com/v1/generate?wait=60" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $JANTARIS_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "nano-banana-pro",
    "input": { "prompt": "Coffee shop poster that reads \"Open from 7 AM\", warm morning light", "aspect_ratio": "4:5" }
  }'

The response includes estimated_cost before the task starts. For Veo pricing in detail, see Veo 3.1 API pricing, and for a model comparison, GPT Image 2.5 vs Nano Banana Pro vs FLUX.2.

FAQ

Why is Gemini not generating images?

Usually one of four reasons:

  • You hit the limit. The Gemini limit refreshes every 5 hours, and after the weekly limit you wait longer. Gemini shows a notice when you get close.
  • The feature is not in your plan. Nano Banana Pro and video in the app need at least Google AI Plus.
  • Work or school account. Access depends on the Workspace license and your admin.
  • Content filter. A prompt with a public figure or content against Google's policies is declined regardless of limits. Rewording helps, waiting does not.

Does the limit accumulate?

No. The Gemini limit refreshes every 5 hours, but the unused part does not carry over. In Flow, unused daily and monthly credits expire (source). On Jantaris there is no allowance to use up: the balance never expires and you pay only for what you generate.

How many free Nano Banana Pro images a day do I get in Gemini?

With no plan, Nano Banana Pro is not available in the Gemini app according to the limits page. Free accounts get Nano Banana 2 within the standard limit.

How many Veo clips can I make on Google AI Pro?

In Flow, 1,000 credits a month plus 50 a day, roughly 50 Fast clips or 10 Quality clips from the monthly pool. In the Gemini app, AI Pro has a limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite, with no published count.

How many images a day can I make on ChatGPT Plus?

OpenAI does not publish a number. The Plus plan is marked "Limits apply", and the in-app message shows the exact time until reset once you hit it.
