Pick FLUX.2 [pro] for photorealistic images and scenes built from several references, especially at 1K, where it is slightly cheaper. Pick Nano Banana Pro when the graphic carries text with accented characters, or when you need 4K or more references. In my test Nano Banana Pro won clearly, mostly on text rendering, where FLUX.2 stumbles.

  • Graphics with short English text.

When to pick Nano Banana Pro

  • Posters, flyers or covers with text in languages that use diacritics.
  • 4K output for print.
  • Projects with more than 8 references.
  • Very long, detailed prompts.

Cost in practice

At 1K Nano Banana Pro costs about 9% more than FLUX.2 [pro]. At 2K it flips: FLUX.2 [pro] costs about 29% more, because its rate rises with resolution while Nano Banana Pro charges 1K and 2K the same. Only Nano Banana Pro has 4K, priced just above its 2K. On Jantaris, references do not raise the price in either model. Rates: from $0.0688 per image and from $0.0747 per image (both at 1K); all tiers on /pricing.

Results from my image ranking (Polish blog, same five prompts): Nano Banana Pro 9.0/10, FLUX.2 [pro] 7.6/10. Without text FLUX.2 did well (8.5 each for the illustration, portrait and food shot) and was faster (13 s against 18.6 s on another provider). The Polish sign earned it 5/10, and in a typography test it made at least four errors across three graphics. Wider comparison: GPT Image 2.5 vs Nano Banana Pro vs FLUX.2.

Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image). Prompt: "This is a stunning close-up photograph of a red-eyed tree frog, capturing its vibrant colors and intricate details with remarkable clarity. The frog is positioned on a large, dewy green leaf, its body angled slightly away from the viewer but its head turned to face us. Its most striking feature is its large, bulging red eye with a vertical black pupil, which seems to gaze intently. The frog's skin is a beautiful tapestry of colors: its head and the upper part of its back are a bright, almost lime green, transitioning into a striking orange on its lower back and legs..."
