Gemini Omni 1.1 is the cheaper choice for short shots up to 10 seconds, including 4K, with a photo or a clip as input. Seedance 2.5 costs several times more, but it makes a single shot up to 30 seconds, combines dozens of references and edits existing video. In my test Omni scored higher overall.

Key differences

  • Length. Gemini Omni 1.1 makes 4, 6, 8 or 10 s. Seedance 2.5 makes 4 to 30 s in one-second steps.
  • Billing. Omni charges per clip (by length and resolution), Seedance per second.
  • Resolution. Omni: 360p, 720p, 1080p, 4K (360p at the 720p price). Seedance 2.5: 480p, 720p, 1080p.
  • References. Omni: 1 or 3 images, or one clip up to 30 s. Seedance 2.5: up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio tracks, real people allowed (with consent).
  • Editing. Both can rework existing footage (Omni via a reference clip), but only Seedance 2.5 extends a clip.
  • Aspect ratios. Omni has 16:9 and 9:16. Seedance 2.5 has 7, including 1:1 and 21:9.

When to pick Gemini Omni 1.1

  • Short 4-10 s shots on a small budget.
  • A 4K clip, which Seedance 2.5 cannot make.
  • A character from a photo in a new scene, or a restyle of your own footage.
  • Spoken lines beyond English: in my Polish test Omni (Google calls it Gemini Omni Flash 1.1) said a hard sentence without errors.

When to pick Seedance 2.5

  • One 15-30 s shot without stitching.
  • A project with a dozen photos of a product or the same person.
  • Extending a finished clip.
  • Square 1:1 or wide 21:9.

Cost in practice

The gap is wide. Ten seconds at 1080p in Seedance 2.5 cost about 6.7 times as much as a 10 s Omni 1.1 clip. At 720p the gap drops to about 3.9x. For 4 seconds at 720p, Seedance is about 3 times pricier. Even Seedance's cheapest tier (480p) at 10 s costs about 1.7 times as much as 10 s of Omni at 1080p. Extras: in Seedance, clips in video_urls add their own seconds; in Omni, the reference-clip mode has a flat per-job price. Rates: from $1.02 per video (Omni, 6 s clip) and from $0.261 per second (Seedance, per second at 720p); everything on /pricing.

Results from my video ranking (Polish blog): Omni 8/10, Seedance 2.5 6.5/10. Seedance made the better coffee shot (8 versus 7) but garbled more than half of a Polish sentence. I tested on other providers. More: Gemini Omni API, Seedance 2.5 API guide.

FAQ

Gemini Omni 1.1 or Seedance 2.5: which is better?

For short shots and 4K, Omni 1.1, since it is several times cheaper. For long scenes, many references and extending clips, Seedance 2.5.

How much do 10 seconds cost in each?

In Omni you pay for a 10 s clip by resolution (rates on the model page). In Seedance it is 10 times the per-second rate (from $0.261 per second at 720p). Studio shows the total before you generate.

Can Gemini Omni 1.1 make 30-second clips?

No, the maximum is 10 s. A reference clip can be up to 30 s, but that is input, not output length.

Which keeps a character from references better?

Seedance 2.5 accepts far more material (up to 30 images); Omni takes 1 or 3 images. I have not tested character consistency in this pair.
