Kling 3.0 is the cheaper model for single shots up to 15 seconds, with 4K and optional dialogue. Seedance 2.5 is the more expensive tool for longer scenes (up to 30 s), heavy reference work and editing existing footage. If you need neither 30 seconds nor editing, Kling usually does the job at several times lower cost per second.

Key differences

  • Clip length. Kling 3.0 does 3-15 s, Seedance 2.5 4-30 s in one pass. With duration: -1 Seedance picks the length itself.
  • Resolution. Kling offers 720p, 1080p and 4K. Seedance 2.5 tops out at 1080p but adds 480p for cheap drafts.
  • References. Kling takes 2 images plus a first and last frame. Seedance 2.5 takes up to 30 images, 10 clips and 10 audio tracks, and real people are allowed in references (with their consent).
  • Editing. Seedance 2.5 can edit or extend a finished video. Kling only generates new shots.
  • Audio. Seedance generates speech, effects and music (mono) by default. In Kling you enable dialogue with lip sync yourself, which raises the rate.
  • Aspect ratios. Seedance has 7, including 21:9 and 4:3. Kling has 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1.

When to pick Kling 3.0

  • A 4K shot for a campaign or for reframing later.
  • Short 5-10 s reels when every second counts.
  • An English dialogue scene with lip sync.
  • Silent shots that get music in the edit anyway.

When to pick Seedance 2.5

  • An ad or scene of 20-30 s without stitching clips.
  • A music video with the same performer across shots, built from a dozen photos.
  • Extending a clip that ends too early, or changing part of a recording.
  • Wide 21:9 shots.

Cost in practice

Seedance 2.5 is clearly pricier per second. At 1080p it costs about 3.1 times as much as Kling with audio and about 4.7 times as much as Kling without audio. At 720p the gap is about 2.4x (Kling with audio) and 3.5x (silent). Seedance at 480p costs less per second than Kling at 1080p with audio, so drafts are cheap there at the lowest tier. Watch the extras: in Seedance, reference clips in video_urls add their own seconds to the bill, and in Kling audio raises the 720p and 1080p rates. Rates: from $0.169 per second and from $0.261 per second; every model is on /pricing.

In my own tests (published in Polish on promptowy.com), Seedance 2.5 produced a solid coffee-pour shot (8/10) but was the weakest of ten models at speaking a Polish sentence; Kling was weak at Polish too. See the ranking. More on each model: Kling 3.0 API pricing and Seedance 2.5 API guide.

FAQ

Kling 3.0 or Seedance 2.5: which is better for short-form video?

For a typical 5-15 s reel, Kling 3.0 is cheaper and gives you 1080p or 4K. Seedance 2.5 makes sense when the reel is one long shot over 15 s or is built from many reference photos.

How much do 30 seconds cost in Seedance 2.5?

Thirty times the per-second rate at your chosen resolution (from $0.261 per second is the default 720p rate). You see the total before you start, in Studio or in estimated_cost, and a failed run costs nothing.

Does Seedance 2.5 do 4K?

No, the maximum is 1080p. For 4K, use Kling 3.0 or Seedance 2.0.

Can either model keep the same person across shots?

Seedance 2.5 is built for it, with up to 30 reference images. Kling 3.0 takes 2 reference images, which is enough for a simple look but not for a large cast.
