Wan 3.0 makes clips of up to 30 s with audio included, has five resolution tiers from 480P to 4K and takes plenty of references. Kling 3.0 makes shots of up to 15 s with optional dialogue and lip sync, and audio is a separate switch. Without audio Kling is cheaper at 1080p; with audio the 1080p rates are close, and at 720p and 4K Wan is cheaper.
Key differences
- Length. Wan 3.0 2-30 s in one pass. Kling 3.0 3-15 s.
- Resolution. Wan: 480P, 720P, 1080P, 2K, 4K. Kling: 720p, 1080p, 4K.
- Audio. In Wan it is on by default at no extra cost. In Kling it is off by default, and switching it on (dialogue with lip sync, ambience) raises the 720p and 1080p rates.
- References. Wan: up to 10 images, 5 clips and 5 audio clips, plus a document or web page as a source. Kling: 2 images plus a first and last frame.
- Aspect ratios. Wan: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 and
adaptive. Kling: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1. - Prompt. Wan up to 20,000 characters, Kling up to 2,500.
When to pick Wan 3.0
- A 20-30 s scene without stitching clips.
- 4K or 2K footage, where Wan is cheaper per second.
- Cheap drafts at 480P.
- A spoken line in Polish: in my test Wan was clearly better at it.
When to pick Kling 3.0
- Silent 1080p shots, where Kling is cheaper.
- A faster result: in my test Kling returned a clip in about 114 s, Wan in about 170 s.
- English dialogue with lip sync.
- A first-to-last-frame transition in 4K with dialogue.
Cost in practice
At 720p Wan is about 8% cheaper than silent Kling, and Kling with audio costs about 1.56 times as much as Wan. At 1080p a silent Kling shot is cheaper (Wan costs about 1.43x as much), but with audio Kling is about 5% more expensive than Wan. At 4K Kling costs about 1.56 times as much as Wan, with or without audio. Watch the defaults: Wan starts at 1080P and 5 s, Kling at 1080p and 6 s. In Wan, reference clip seconds are added to the bill and duration: -1 is billed as 30 s. Rates: from $0.0777 per second and from $0.169 per second (both 1080p, Kling silent); everything on /pricing.
In my first video ranking (Polish blog, run on another provider, same two prompts) Wan 3.0 scored 7.75/10 (coffee 8.0, tram 7.5) and Kling 3.0 Standard 6.75 (coffee 7.0, tram 6.5). Kling returned a clip in about 114 s, Wan in about 170 s. In a hard Polish sentence Wan got 2 of 12 words wrong (ranking with a speech test), Kling 3.0 Pro 10 of 12 (Kling in Polish test). FAQ
Wan 3.0 or Kling 3.0: which is better for short-form video?
For a silent 5-10 s reel at 1080p, Kling is cheaper. For a reel with model-generated audio, longer than 15 s, or with a non-English line, I pick Wan.
Which is cheaper at 4K?
Wan 3.0, by about 36% per second. Audio does not change the 4K rate in either model.
Can Kling 3.0 make 30 seconds?
Not in one shot; the maximum is 15 s. Wan 3.0 does 30 s in one pass.
Can I keep the same character across shots?
Wan 3.0 is better suited: it takes up to 10 reference images, which you refer to in the prompt as "Image 1", "Image 2" and so on. Kling 3.0 takes 2 reference images, enough for a simple look.
